Creek Flowing at Inn Above Onion Creek Bed and Breakfast

Dear Guests:

The recent rains in the Texas Hill Country have finally paid off. For first time in almost two years the water is flowing in Onion Creek. During your next stay at the Inn Above Onion Creek enjoy a short walk down to the Overlook to hear the sounds of gently flowing water and take in the breath-taking views of the Texas Hill Country. It's truly a relaxing experience.

Saltlick BBQ Beef Ribs Chef Bobby Flay's Favorite

Dear Guests:

Iron Chef Bobby Flay knows a thing or two about food. He recently talked about his favorite BBQ of all time on the Food Network program "The best thing I ever ate". His favorite? Saltlick Barbecue Beef Ribs. The Beef ribs are not on the daily menu but you can find them there on Sundays. Bobby recommends the beef ribs with the habanero BBQ sauce, but then again he likes the heat. Next time you're heading out from a relaxing weekend at the Inn Above Onion Creek be sure and stop by Saltlick BBQ for lunch and grab some Iron Chef worthy Beef Ribs.

Halloween Feast at The Inn Above Onion Creek

On Halloween Eve we will be serving a special 4 course dinner. Chef Adrian and his staff will add an additional course to our normal 3-course dinner so no goblins or ghosts will go hungry while trick or treating. Additionally, guests dining with us on Halloween will also be judging our 3rd annual pumpkin carving contest. The staff take this contest very seriously, especially Don, the assistant innkeeper. I think he got robbed and he should have taken home the blue ribbon.... but unfortunately they don't let cats vote. Last year's winning pumpkin was cleverly shaped like a hamburger.

Texas Hill Country Fishing Trips

Dear Guests:

With the recent rains restoring the water levels in many of the hill country rivers, and with the cooler fall temperatures, it's a great time for a hill country fishing trip. I found this great article talking about the prime conditions in many of local rivers. Check it out here. If fishing sounds like a relaxing way to spend time in the Texas hill country we recommend Davis Fly Fishing Service, a guide based excursion specializing in Hill Country trout and river bass. Davis Fly fishing service offers float trips on the Blanco, Llano, San Marcos and Guadalupe rivers. check out their site here. If you need help planning a hill country fishing trip please contact the staff at the Inn Above Onion Creek.

Top 5 Texas Hill Country Golf Courses

Dear Guests:

I found a great article from worldgolf.com rating the top 5 hill country golf courses. There are some world class golf courses not too far from the Inn Above Onion Creek. Take a look and see if your favorite texas golf course is on the list. A couple of nice courses not mentioned are Grey Rock Golf Club in South Austin and The Bandit in New Braunfels. I know Don, the assistant innkeeper enjoys both of those golf courses and recommends each of them. Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle is only about 6 miles from the Inn and offers a challenging 7100 yard track from the back tees. If you need any help planning a hill country golf outing please call the staff at the Inn Above Onion Creek.
