Texas Mountain Laurel Blooming

I had a pleasant surprise this morning when entering the Inn this morning as one of the Texas Mountain Laurels was blooming. It's a very hardy evergreen that is drought tolerant and during the spring months has floral blooms that smell like grape soda. They are slow growing so they tend to be somewhat expensive in the stores but it makes a great addition for Texas native landscaping. The normal blooming period in Texas is March and April so it's very surprising to see one in full bloom this early in February. We hope it's a positive sign for things to come for this wildflower season.
