Duchman Family Winery Honored with Texas Wine of the Month

The Texas hill country is home to the Texas Wine Trail, a group of ever growing wineries producing top quality Texas wines. The Inn is close to notable wineries on the Wine Trail including Wimberley Valley Winery, Driftwood Vineyard and The Duchman Family Winery. The latter was recently bestowed the honor of a Texas Wine of the Month by Texas Monthly. The 2010 Duchman Family Winery Vermentino was given the top prize this month. It is the second time Duchman's Vermentino has received this award, also receiving it in May of 2010 for the 2008 vintage.

The Vermentino grape is popular in Italian wines and most often can be found from vineyards on the island of Sardinia. Back in 2004 the Duchman Family decided to take a chance on this lesser known grape and it has done exceptionally well in the dry warm climate of the Texas hill country.

The Duchman Family Winery is a stop on our Grapes and Olives Package, which includes wine tastings at the above mentioned wineries and other goodies such as lunch at Trattoria Lisina Restaurant, which is Damian Mandola's Tuscan style restaurant located next to the Duchman Family Winery. The package also includes a 750ml bottle of Olive Oil from Bella Vista Ranch, the first commercial producer of olive oil in Texas. As of this post, the price for the Grapes and Olive package is $99.00. It's a great addition to your next Texas hill country getaway.
