Signs of spring are showing up early this year in the Texas hill country. The Texas Redbud, Mexican Plum and Texas Mountain Laurel are beginning to bloom here on the Inn's property and the Bluebonnets are becoming quite large. We expect to see Bluebonnet blooms to begin forming soon. We took these images today to give you an idea of what's happening our bed and breakfast.

Texas Mountain Laurel Blooming
I had a pleasant surprise this morning when entering the Inn this morning as one of the Texas Mountain Laurels was blooming. It's a very hardy evergreen that is drought tolerant and during the spring months has floral blooms that smell like grape soda. They are slow growing so they tend to be somewhat expensive in the stores but it makes a great addition for Texas native landscaping. The normal blooming period in Texas is March and April so it's very surprising to see one in full bloom this early in February. We hope it's a positive sign for things to come for this wildflower season.
