Sunday we had the pleasure of welcoming Select Registry's 2013 Vacation of a Lifetime winners, Janet and Warren Hankammer, to the Inn Above Onion Creek. Select Registry held a Vacation of a Lifetime contest last year for all of their Rewards members and the lucky Grand Prize winners of the contest were awarded one free night stay at every Select Registry location for an entire year.
We are very honored to have been included in Janet and Warren's vacation adventure around America. We will make sure they have a trademark stay with us, starting with our three-course dinner made with fresh garden herbs and our homemade Walnut Chocolate Chip cookies.
The Kyle Chamber of Commerce CEO, Julie Snyder, stopped by Monday morning to give the Hankammers a warm Texas Hill Country welcome during breakfast.
We hope that Janet and Warren's Vacation of a Lifetime continues to be an exciting and enjoyable experience. We're are beside ourselves to have had the opportunity to be a part of such an outstanding adventure and it has been a treat to have them stay with us.
If you're wondering how to land your chance for a vacation of a lifetime, you still have time to enter the Select Registry's 2014 Vacation of a Lifetime contest. You can find the contest guidelines at the Select Registry website.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Natalie Diaz from the Inn Above Onion Creek. A member of the Mojave and Pima Indian tribes, Natalie spends her time directing a language revitalization program at her home reservation in Fort Mojave located in Surprise, Arizona. Tonight she will be reading a collection of her poems at the Katherine Anne Porter House in Kyle, Texas at 7:30 pm. Feel free to attend her reading, as you will get a great insight into her life and upbringing at Fort Mojave through her beautiful creative writing. To read a few of her poems, visit Narrative Magazine.

Columbus Day is a holiday that celebrates the landing of Christopher Columbus. It is a day of honoring his accomplishments and recognizing the Italian-American heritage. To many of us, it means a three day weekend and hopefully cooler fall weather. There are several events going on close to the Inn Above Onion Creek for Columbus Day weekend.

Austin City Limits Music Festival
ACL is one of the most popular music festivals in the United States. It is so big that this year is the first year they have decided to split the event between two weekends. If you have a passion for home furnishings and handcrafted wooden items, the Texas Mesquite Arts Festival has become one of Fredericksburg's top festivals.
